Introductions and Reading Traps.

Hello all, this is Drea's new blog manager/digital assistant Merenda at your service. Drea and I will be working together to bring you new and updated content regularly and consistently. Look forward to WIP blurbs, passages, and character descriptors. Now, on to that reading  trap I talked about in the title, here's a passage from Country Courtin' a WIP.

“Jamison, I know you didn’t hop my Mamma’s fence just to leer at me?” I snapped saucily before turning around to grab my basket.
“Where the hell is your bra?”
I spun around to face him so fast I almost fell over.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me.  Why are you out here in broad daylight with out a bra on.  A blind man could see you ain’t wearing one.”
“I do not know who you think you are, Levi Mitchell, but I am going to pretend I did not just hear you trying to be the boss of me”
I snatched my basket and brushed past Levi. The morning was already warming up and now I was pissed on top of it.
I let out a little screech as Levi grabbed my arm and spun me to face him.  Standing as close as we were I had to crane my neck to look into his eyes. What I saw there shocked me. Besides anger there was something else. Something raw and powerful. Something that called to the woman in me. My breathing hitched as he lowered his eyes to stare at my mouth. When he dipped his head I thought for sure he was about to kiss me. I tried to stand my ground really I did, but I could feel myself melting into him. My breast pressed into the hard planes of his chest.
“Marci…”
Oh my God, is that my name. Oh say it again.

Spinning , Penning and getting on with it.

WRITING!

Writing isn't just about holding a pen and paper and turning letters into words, words into sentences and sentences into coherent thoughts.

Writing goes beyond developing plots and characters and building worlds or relationships.

Sometimes writing has nothing to do with the ACT of writing at all.

Sometimes writing is sitting in a folding chair staring at a dusty ceiling and counting the textured cracks in the acoustic tiles.

Its the Ritual of cleaning and office and stocking a snack tray.  Lighting a candle or selecting the perfect play list.

Sometimes its typing the same word repetitively until your hands or swollen.
Its hob-knobing and marketing. Kissing babies and smiling for cameras.

Its blogging about what you're supposed to be doing and promoting what others are.

I am lucky. I get to work with some of the greatest names in the industry. So really, some times for me writing takes a back seat to " working with some of the greatest names in the industry".

And I love every minute of it.

I've recently partnered with Milana Howard to launch a blogtalk radio show ( aptly named the Drea and Milana Show) and I have to say-- its coming along nicely.

Once a week we sit and dish with the people we admire and love. We laugh, learn and grow.

And its all part of writing.

I hope you'll stop over this saturday at 6pm cst and give it a listen.

Its what the muses allow me to do when they aren't guiding me quill and it gives me immense pleasure.

Its rekindled my creativity and my love of the craft.

Stop in this week when we speak with Reana Malori, an author who much like Milana and myself, is relaunching her career behind the pen in 2014.
